Historical and Spiritual Heritage of Liska
Dating back to the 1800s, Liska became a well-known center for Jewish religious and cultural life. Every year, thousands honor Tzvi Hirsh Liska, also known as Hershele Lisker, in Liska. The village hosts more than 500 Jewish historical sites, including cemeteries and places of worship that represent a rich heritage. By the late 19th century, the Jewish population of Liska reached nearly 3,000, enriching its cultural environment. Liska’s heritage resonates in neighboring communities such as Kerestir and throughout Hungary. Each year, nearly 5,000 people visit Liska, attracted by its historical and spiritual landmarks.
